AYDINLAR and ŞAHENK announce a children's hospital that will set the standards for Turkey and the region

Acıbadem Medical Group President and Acıbadem University Board of Trustees Chair Mehmet Ali Aydınlar and Doğuş Group President Ferit F. Şahenk signed a protocol for a Children's Hospital in Istanbul which will provide diagnostic and treatment services for children between the ages of 0 to 16. The hospital will be built by a partnership of Acıbadem University and Şahenk, and will be designed particularly for children from its building to patient rooms, clinics and laboratories, becoming one of the fully-equipped children's hospitals in Turkey and the region.

Two of the leading businesspeople in Turkey join their forces for a new investment in the medical industry to keep ahead of the recent growth in the industry that made Turkey a regional center of attraction. Acıbadem Medical Group President and Acıbadem University Board of Trustees Chair Mehmet Ali Aydınlar and Doğuş Group President Ferit F. Şahenk signed a protocol for a Children's Hospital in Istanbul which will provide services for children between the ages of 0 to 16. The Children's Hospital will be built as an Acıbadem University and Şahenk initiative, and draw on the extensive academic knowhow of Acıbadem University to set the standard for children's hospitals in Turkey and the region.

"We set out to make a dream come true."

Doğuş Group President Ferit F. Şahenk expressed his pleasure to partner with the leading Turkish medical group Acıbadem to build the Children's Hospital he had been dreaming about for a long time, continuing:

"I am thrilled to share one of the happiest events in my life. We as the Şahenk family are well aware that health is the single most important asset in people's lives, and the investments and support we put in the medical industry through the Ayhan Şahenk Foundation means that vital medical services are made available throughout Turkey. My long-time aspiration had been to build a children's hospital. Our most important mission for humanity is to raise healthy future generations and take people under medical protection from the moment they are born. Today I am very close to making that dream come true thanks to dear friend Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, who is the founder of a globally recognized medical group and the name behind a world-class medical university. This hospital will be exclusive to children and embrace them with the most advanced technologies, research and development in the world from the moment they are born."

"We will build an exemplary children's hospital in Turkey."

Acıbadem Medical Group President and Acıbadem University Board of Trustees Chair Mehmet Ali Aydınlar drew attention to the fact that medical services need to be tailored to appeal to children, and that one of the greatest needs in the Turkish medical industry was a specialist children's hospital, continuing:

“Acıbadem invests its revenues from the medical business back into the industry. Our experience in the Acıbadem Medical Group and the scientific knowhow of Acıbadem University led us to think that a children's hospital was a great unmet need. Such a hospital will meet the need in Turkey as well as throughout the region. Therefore, we believe that our partnership with Ferit Şahenk will be a great step forward for the health of our children. Acıbadem University, with its heritage of training high-quality medical professionals and extensive academic knowledge, will be the backbone of this hospital to help many children regain their health. We will build this hospital at the level of quality that has been maintained by and expected of the Acıbadem Medical Group for years, making it an exemplary institution that will set the standard for Turkey and the region. We will offer high-quality medical services customized for children. The children's hospital will be designed according to the needs of children in all aspects from structure to operation. All personnel will be required to take pedagogical training. There will be education facilities for children who need to undergo extended treatment. This will enable them to keep up with their schoolwork during their time in hospital.
