Doğuş Group to host mega yachts along the Dalmatian coast
1DOĞUŞ GROUP HAS HELD A GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR A MARINA THAT WILL HOST 100 METRE LONG YACHTS IN CROATIA
Doğuş Group made an investment exceeding USD 110 million for the D-Marine marinas it has built in Turgutreis and Didim. A further investment of more than USD 100 million is planned for the D-Marine marina in Dalaman whose project design is continuing. Meanwhile, in a few weeks' time, the Group is going to take over the operation of Port Göcek for which a deal was signed last year. The Group is now taking its experience in marine investment and operation to Croatia.
Based on a partnership agreement it signed with the Croat NCP company last year, Doğuş Group held the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mandalina Marina&Yacht Club in Sibenik, the gem of the Dalmatian coast. The Group is both the shareholder and the developer/operator of the marina. The ceremony for the mega yacht marina was attended by Doğuş Group CEO Hüsnü Akhan.
The total 400 berth capacity of the Mandalina Marina&Yacht Club, currently featuring 350 in-water slips and 50 dry-dock berths on land, will be increased to 480 berths with the additional facilities for which the groundbreaking ceremony was held. When the project is completed, Mandalina Marina will boast a mega yacht port able to berth 100 metre yachts.
The investment featuring additional units including a new reception building and a charter office will make Mandalina Marina the first marina in Croatia to be designed for mega yachts. The additional facilities to be realized with an investment of €20 million are scheduled to become operational in June 2011.
While Doğuş Group will undertake singlehandedly the operation of the existing marina and the new facilities to be built, the general contractor of the project will be Pomgrad Strabag, based in Split, Croatia, particularly renowned for its expertise in marine construction.
Doğuş Group CEO Akhan: 'We are committed to our goal of becoming a regional player'
In a statement he made in Croatia, where he was attending the groundbreaking
ceremony, Doğuş Group CEO Hüsnü Akhan said the partnership agreement they concluded in Croatia was the most concrete example of their strategy of becoming a regional player in the marina and yachting industry. Akhan went on to say the following: 'Croatia is one of the most vibrant markets in the field of marina operations and yachting. It is a very strong player in this area both as regards experience and potential and one which is steadily increasing its influence in the Mediterranean basin. Our partnership with NCP, one of the leading investors and service providers of Croatia in these fields, is an international endorsement of our success in Turkey with D-Marine. We are very pleased with our partnership with NCP in Sibenik. In fact, we are seeking new opportunities in Croatia together in the area of tourism, first and foremost in marine investments. As Doğuş Group, we are moving steadily forward in our goal and ambition of becoming a regional player in marine operations.'
