Doğuş Construction is one of the key companies of its sector due to its mega project perspective and infrastructure and superstructure projects undertaken both in Turkey and in the international market. Doğuş Construction, who ranks among the most reputable construction companies since its establishment in 1950, has completed 170 projects amounting to the value of more than USD 12 billion up to this day.
The works performed can be outlined as 19 dams and HEPPs, 1235 km of roads including 415 km of motorways, 2.000.000 m2 of building construction, and also infrastructure works, 35.000 m of bridges, viaducts and passages, more than 116.000 m of tunnels and diversion tunnels, as well as ports, marinas, irrigation projects, sewerage systems, office buildings, shopping and leisure centers, residential and industrial buildings.
Today, the total amount of the projects where Doğuş is involved is amounting to USD 3,2 billion, and the share of Doğuş in these projects is USD 2,5 billion. Doğuş takes part in the execution of various prestigious rail mass transportation systems projects either within the joint ventures or consortiums that are established with the participation of international construction companies in Turkey.
At home, Doğuş is awarded with a new project titled Construction and Electromechanical Works of Istanbul Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy Metro Project, a critical metro project that shall solve the transportation problem of Istanbul, and works in relation with this project continue to be implemented rapidly. Also, Boyabat Dam and HEPP Project which is one of the most important dam projects of Turkey and that shall generate 1,5 billion kwh of electricity per year has been completed very recently, and enegry generation facilities are commissioned. Likewise, Artvin Dam and HEPP Project that shall generate 1,0 bllion kwh of electricity per year which is another important dam project continues to be constructed by Doğuş Construction in Turkey.
The work related with construction of the road between Konya-Akşehir-Afyon is a new project that we are awarded and commenced to construct locally.
The construction of Kiev Boryspil International Airport Development Project in Ukraine and Sofia Metro Extension Project LOT 1 in Bulgaria is completed recently. Construction of the 1st Phase of Sirte University in Libya that is in hiatus for the time being is an another project that stands out in the international market.
A glance at the ongoing projects
The "İstanbul Otogar-Kirazlı-Başakşehir Metro" is a rail mass transportation system project that covers the construction and electromechanical works and the delivery of rolling stocks. Single-track length of the twin-tunnel system which will have 16 stations is 47.4 km in total. It starts from the intercity bus terminal (Otogar) and extends through the route of Bağcılar, Kirazlı, and then it is divided into two branches and reaches to both the Olympic Village and Başakşehir houses, and it constitutes a considerable part of the railway systems chain in Istanbul. 4 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) are used in the construction of the twin tunnels with the circular cross-section of TBM-6,50 m and NATM-7,80 m.
Artvin Dam and HEPP will be constructed as a arch concrete gravity dam on the Çoruh River by Doğuş Construction with the purpose of energy generation. Power generation of the dam which has the installed capacity of 340 MW and with the height of 180 m starting from foundation, crest length of 278 m, is planned as 1 billion Kwh/year.
Doğuş Construction is recently awarded with the tender of the Construction and Electromechanical Works of Istanbul Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy Metro Project with the total length of 20 km, tunnel inner diameter of 5,70 m, outter diameter of 6,30 m and including 16 stations, and the works are commenced.
Works in relation with the construction of Konya-Akşehir-Afyon Road that includes 2x2 lanes with the length of 47 and that has been awarded recently are commenced to be implemented.
Doğuş Construction, who has completed numerous infrastructure and superstructure works in Libya in the previous years, has restarted its activities in this country after a long break by being awarded with the Construction of the 1st Phase of Sirte University Complex in Libya with the area of 218.000 m² including 5 nos Service Buildings, 9 nos Faculty Buildings.
Also, Library and Administration Buildings Construction of Sirte University is another project in Libya that continues to be constructed by Doğuş Construction. However, aforementioned works are suspended temporarily because of the incidents that were experienced in Libya in early 2011.
Doğuş, who aims to expand its working area in the international market, will continue to explore new businesses in North and Central Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine and the CIS and the Gulf Countries.
Environment-friendly project approach
The preservation of environment is of much importance in the projects executed by Doğuş Construction. All of the required works are executed in order to protect natural resources and to minimize the negative environmental impacts and to take the necessary measures in order to ensure thereof. For this purpose, all of the applicable laws and regulations are fully complied with.
Also, both local and international occupational health and safety requirements are meticulously applied in every phase of the construction works. Compliance with the project specific and general environmental and labour safety requirements is the key to the high service quality offered by Doğuş Construction to its Clients. Accordingly, the employees are continuously provided with training courses to keep up with the changing requirements in the areas of Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
Doğuş Construction is certified by the Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, who furnsihes services on the subjects of "Safeguarding life, property, and the environment" and risk management. The Certification Firm has issued ISO 9001:2008 Quality, OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health & Safety, and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management certificates for Doğuş Construction.
