Boyabat Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, located 180 km east of Samsun and 150 km south of Sinop on the river Kızılırmak with the 6,000 ha reservoir area with an installed capacity of 513 MW and annual expected electricity generation capacity of 1.5 billion kwh is the biggest HEPP project which the private sector owns in Turkey.

Boyabat HEPP is one of the 24 hydro plant planned to be constructed on Kızılırmak river. Seven of these projects have been completed and are currently operating.

Boyabat HEPP which was currenty constructed by Dogus Insaat is expected to be completed by the end of year 2012. For the financing of the project, 750 million USD long term project finance credit has been obtained from 4 local banks.
